Traveling Mom Bag Must Haves

Many people ask me about the best things to know and do to prepare and be ready as a traveling mom. The truth is, that everything I’ve learned has been through experience and I have made some pretty silly mistakes that have taught me to do better next time!

Here, I want to share 6 things I always must have in my bag, when we set out to explore or get on an airplane to see the world. Wether we are going to the field up the street, to a new playground, a museum, or a new city, I always put these in my bag! even if the boys have some similar things in their packs, I feel better knowing that I have my 6 essentials when I need them most. It just makes the traveling mom life easier for me and it allows me to keep on going!

Traveling mom bag must haves

• Water Bottle-

Being hydrated is so important! One time we went on a long hike and the boys forgot their water in the car. Thankfully, having my own water, helped us all to share a bit of water until we were back. It wasn’t ideal, but given the circumstances, it was the best we could do and a real life saver!

Wherever we are, we like to explore, and touch, meet people or creatures, and of course get way way dirty! But we aren’t afraid of being dirty!  If there is a frog, it needs to be held and touched and talked about. A puddle, it needs to be jumped on and explored too! Any interesting wall, you better believe that they will be touching it! When there are new people and cultures, we want to be right there with them, experiencing what they experience and learning from the best source! These experiences will forever be priceless! and we always feel like we have friends all around the world.

• Sunglasses-

It seems so obvious that everyone would remember their sunglasses! But I mostly don’t. I need to keep a spare pair always in my bag because my mom brain gets the best of my on a daily basis. Hopefully that’s not the case for you but just in case!

• Camera-

I mean, my camera is my baby! You always want to have some sort of camera with you. Trust me, whenever I don’t bring mine, I regret it later. You are out exploring! Making memories. You always want to be able to look back at some photos and re tell the story. It’s such a wonderful warm feeling.

• Phone Charger- I don’t think I need to explain this one too much! We are always using our phone for translations, GPS, compass, and more! I can also tell you that I have been in the place where I don’t have more battery and I don’t have a charger and I need to get everyone back. So now, I just have an extra charger for my bag.
