We are trying to teach the kids to always find opportunities for learning wherever they go, when you talk to people, you learn new things, and when you visit new places, there is a whole new world of things to learn too. That’s why we surprised them last weekend with a trip to the amusement park!  We all got in the car and headed to Kings Dominion Park.day at the amusement park with kids mom blog dad blog amusement park traveling family healthy mom blog fun weekend with kids kings dominion with kids worldschooling early learning travel with kids summer fun summer travel day trip Virginia snoopy

I must confess that I was a bit nervous about having the two youngest be unhappy and bored, because they would never be tall enough for any of the rides. Boy was I wrong! From the moment we entered, to the minute we walked out to our car, the whole experience was amazing and fun!

With all of our travels, we have learned that the best tips, always come from the locals and it’s something that has given us chances to some of the best experiences ever! That we wouldn’t have known about on our own, so if you love to travel, always ask the locals what they think you should not miss! This also teaches the kids to practice their social skills and get to know some amazing individuals.

We talked a little with the man at the parking entrance, he told us that he had been going there since he was a kid and now loved working there. He also told us to make sure to check out Planet Snoopy because he saw that we had little ones in the car. Best tip of the day goes to the man at the parking entrance!day at the amusement park with kids mom blog dad blog amusement park traveling family healthy mom blog fun weekend with kids kings dominion with kids worldschooling early learning travel with kids summer fun summer travel day trip Virginia snoopy

After we parked and got inside, we decided that we would alternate, a few rides in snoopy planet and a few crazy rides for us older kids after that. Everyone had amazing smiles all the time whether they were riding or watching the others fly in the air, the thrill was constant.day at the amusement park with kids mom blog dad blog amusement park traveling family healthy mom blog fun weekend with kids kings dominion with kids worldschooling early learning travel with kids summer fun summer travel day trip Virginia snoopy

Here is another amazing thing about Kings Dominion, whenever we got hungry, there were so many food options all around and we didn’t have to walk a half hour to get to it! Everyone also had a happy tummy the entire day!day at the amusement park with kids mom blog dad blog amusement park traveling family healthy mom blog fun weekend with kids kings dominion with kids worldschooling early learning travel with kids summer fun summer travel day trip Virginia snoopy

You have to try the new Twisted Timbers burger (6 oz. fresh never frozen patty topped with thick bacon, bbq sauce, sharp cheddar cheese and one jumbo onion ring) & Green Apple Milkshake at the Juke Box Diner.

If you love funnel cakes, there are some amazing options too! S’mores (available at Inferno Funnel Cake), Cookies & Crème (at World’s Greatest Funnel Cakes) or Apple Pie (available at Apple Ida’s).

After eating lunch, we got to rest for a bit while watching this amazing band playing and dancing! I found it relaxing and fun! and the boys were quite impressed!day at the amusement park with kids mom blog dad blog amusement park traveling family healthy mom blog fun weekend with kids kings dominion with kids worldschooling early learning travel with kids summer fun summer travel day trip Virginia snoopy

We also got to talk a lot about gravity and momentum! I know we are a little geeky, but we don’t mind! The boys’ eyes lit up when they saw exactly what we were talking about as the rides went up and down and all around.day at the amusement park with kids mom blog dad blog amusement park traveling family healthy mom blog fun weekend with kids kings dominion with kids worldschooling early learning travel with kids summer fun summer travel day trip Virginia snoopy

Especially the Xtreme Skyflyer! If you love some thrilling fun, do not leave the park without trying this one out.day at the amusement park with kids mom blog dad blog amusement park traveling family healthy mom blog fun weekend with kids kings dominion with kids worldschooling early learning travel with kids summer fun summer travel day trip Virginia snoopy

After our dinner, we took some time to enjoy some cotton candy (which they had never had before) on a nice porch at Old Virginia.day at the amusement park with kids mom blog dad blog amusement park traveling family healthy mom blog fun weekend with kids kings dominion with kids worldschooling early learning travel with kids summer fun summer travel day trip Virginia snoopy

Then we went on the most amazing walk of all! Dinosaurs Alive! Where we got to see 43 moaning Dinosaurs! Yes the boys named them and learned a few new things that they didn’t know before. Which is pretty impressive because they have read every dinosaur book that crosses their path. We talked about animatronics and how amazing it is!day at the amusement park with kids mom blog dad blog amusement park traveling family healthy mom blog fun weekend with kids kings dominion with kids worldschooling early learning travel with kids summer fun summer travel day trip Virginia snoopy

At the end of the walk, they got to see and touch an Archaeological Dino dig.  Which had them all sorts of excited!day at the amusement park with kids mom blog dad blog amusement park traveling family healthy mom blog fun weekend with kids kings dominion with kids worldschooling early learning travel with kids summer fun summer travel day trip Virginia snoopy

Then it was time for a few more rides as the sun was setting and the beautiful fun lights came on. They would have stayed overnight if allowed, but we lured them out with a delicious ice cream cone to end the day. They enjoyed the ice cream and then were happy to wave goodbye to the new best day ever!day at the amusement park with kids mom blog dad blog amusement park traveling family healthy mom blog fun weekend with kids kings dominion with kids worldschooling early learning travel with kids summer fun summer travel day trip Virginia snoopy

On our way to the car, it started raining so hard! so we held hands and ran together as we got soaking wet. Hearing the boys cheer and giggle and talk non stop, as we settled down in the car was the best feeling ever! And this is why we chose to Learn on the go!

Kings Dominion is a great option for families with thrills in all sizes. They have a Pre-K  which provides complimentary admission to children ages 3 to 5 years old for the entire 2018 season.
