Thank you Allstate for sponsoring this post. I chose to write this post because doing good in local communities is at Allstate’s core.

Recently, we have been talking about making a difference in the world, and how it all starts with us. Making a difference in our immediate community can touch lives that will then touch others. When we think of the future, we also have to realize that we are teaching and inspiring the leaders of the future world now.

I first heard of this by following a project by Allstate:Good Hearts, Good Hands. The boys and I watched a video and we all were quiet when it ended.  I asked them what they thought of it and they were in awe.

“Kids can do great things too!” – Josiah (6)

“If I think of changing the world, I think of big important things that I would do when I grow up. But there is so much that I could do now and it would help maybe one person or two, but it would still be awesome!” -Seth (11)

“Ok let’s do something!” Ethan (8)

My heart was beating so fast and my eyes were filled with tears. So many times, as a mom, I am not sure if I am doing enough, or if I am doing it “right”. But when I hear their tiny voices ready to do big things, ready to change the world, I can’t help but be proud of the leaders that they will become. This world needs more loving and compassionate leaders and we can only inspire that by living it out.

Allstate believes that young people aren’t waiting for change to happen – they’re creating it. I would love for you to watch this video with your kids! Then talk about it. Listen to what they have to say. You will be amazed!

By lending their hands, hearts and voices to their communities, young people are not only making change, but they’re also building life-changing skills like problem-solving, empathy and teamwork. These skills will help them succeed in the future. Our little ones are the future generation of leaders!

Allstate believes in youth empowerment. I absolutely love that, and agree one hundred percent. One of the ways they look to inspire the next generation is through community projects that empower young people to become the next generation of leaders and change-makers.

As many of you know, my husband is a service member, so the boys have experienced many moves and different situations where we are away from one another even on important dates.inspiring young leaders all state traveling family early learning helping hands travel with kids Japan Okinawa Virginia California insurance homeschooling military family smiles wellness healthy mom blog

Allstate’s dedication to the communities where they work and live is so similar to our own, and important to who we are. So, when we were talking about how we could impact our community, they first thought of the people that are here, away from their friends and family. We all agreed that these service members are probably the first and closest people that we could do something for.

Making an impact-

Ethan was ready to do something now, so I couldn’t miss that opportunity! We gathered our craft supplies and started making some fun thank you cards. Colorful messages to let them know that we are thinking about them, that they are not all alone. To see my little boys working so hard for hours and until the sun went down, gave me all sort of amazing feels.inspiring young leaders all state traveling family early learning helping hands travel with kids Japan Okinawa Virginia California insurance homeschooling military family smiles wellness healthy mom blog

We are also set to bake some delicious cupcakes tomorrow and going to pass them to anyone that might have a sweet tooth on the base. And we have promised to try and inspire other families with kids to explore the new cities and places where they go. It’s so easy to feel isolated and lonely when you are away from everything you know. Studies show that military service members and their families are at greater risk of depression. These men and women are always ready to protect our freedom, so we are very proud to be able to hopefully put some smiles on their faces and make their day a little happier.inspiring young leaders all state traveling family early learning helping hands travel with kids Japan Okinawa Virginia California insurance homeschooling military family smiles wellness healthy mom blog
