We absolutely love Christmas! we have so many fun holiday traditions that we try to keep no matter where we go! This year, we are spending our Christmas in Japan, and things are so very different here! The most popular tradition in the town we are in, is to have a fried chicken dinner from a famous American chain. But the best tradition to us, is the very popular Christmas cake! A delicious strawberry cake they eat on Christmas. I’m thinking we will probably be skipping the fried chicken, but I’m all about that strawberry cake!
Back to our Traditions! We have many, but some of our favorites are to read books while snuggling on the couch, to sing Christmas songs together, baking cookies and sweets, watching Christmas movies, and of course driving around to see Christmas lights!
What are some of your family’s traditions? I would love to learn from all of you!
With our traveling and moving, we have found the perfect companion for our kids to be able to have all the possibilities compacted in one small, very kid friendly device! The Amazon Fire HD 8 Kids Edition Tablet. And it’s so amazing that I will take the time to brag about it!
Why I love the Fire HD 8 Kids Edition tablet-
Let’s start with us grown ups! When looking for a device for my always going places boys, I wanted something that is durable, and of course I started researching cases too. Then I found that Fire HD 8 Kids Edition tablets are the #1 kids’ tablets in the U.S. and come with a kid-proof case! You mean I don’t have to get a case? Yes!! And a two-year worry-free guarantee! If they break it, simply return it and Amazon will send a replacement for free, no questions asked. You can understand why I was already sold. They can use it everywhere we go too! no fears and no wifi required.
But of course there is also the other important aspect for us grown ups! The cyber safety of our littles! Well, it’s like Amazon already knew what my concerns were going to be and addressed them even before I started. Using the Parental Control settings in FreeTime, I can set time limits, adjust age filters, enable/disable web browser access, and choose whether to allow in-app purchasing. I can also use Parent Dashboard to review the digital content the kids are using in FreeTime, determine how to manage time limits and educational goals, and remotely adjust their FreeTime settings. Is this not a dream?
What is FreeTime you ask? Each Fire HD 8 Kids Edition tablet comes with a one-year subscription to Amazon FreeTime Unlimited, that gives us access to over 20,000 books, videos, Audible books, educational apps, and games that are age-appropriate and hand-curated by the Amazon FreeTime team. Then there is also access to over 1,000 Spanish language books, videos, educational apps, games, and Audible books, plus thousands of kid-friendly websites and web videos. You know that my kids are half Colombian and I try to have them always practice their Spanish, so being in Japan with a tablet full of Spanish resources is wonderful for us!
Traveling kids with Holiday traditions-
The grown up stuff is out of the way, let me tell you how the boys love their Fire Kids edition.
They Love when we are about to drive somewhere, because they know that they can listen to their Christmas books or what their favorite holiday movies. And when we are home, they like to sit together and read a fun book! Or play some of the festive games and make funny faces with them. Check out our Instagram stories to hear my oldest reading “Pete the cat” to his brother. They are making such sweet memories and melting my heart too!
With their Spanish resources, they are being able to keep up their knowledge, even though they don’t have anyone to practice with here. And also I’ve seen them take the initiative to research some new resources to be able to learn Japanese and make new friends during this trip!
I love that they have the freedom to expand their learning, but I still have control over the parental settings to make sure the can safely browse and explore, without the fear of them ending in some site I don’t want them to be on.
Now having a momma who loves to bake, the boys were thrilled to find several Amazon kid friendly cook books! I mean, I could keep going! If you want to learn more about this amazing Fire HD 8 Kids Edition tablet make sure to browse this site!
