One of our favorite nights of the week is family movie night! We try to keep it fun and include some activities, snacks and some times even dress up!
For this family movie night, we of course chose How To Train Your Dragon 3 ! If there is a movie that we have been waiting for, this is it! We headed to Walmart and grabbed all the goodies for our fun night. Toys, fun shirts and the How To Train Your Dragon 3 Walmart Exclusive DVD Gift Set.
We have been following the adventures of Hiccup and Toothless from the beginning. We love how it shows the boys that you can overcome your fears, that the unknown doesn’t have to be bad even if it seems scary. I could list so many other reasons why we love this series of movies but I don’t want to spoil anything for you all.
In this new movie, a new dragon is joining in, a female dragon! And more adventures that will show the kids the value of fighting for what matters the most to you. You don’t want to miss it! Head to Walmart and purchase the new release of How to Train Your Dragon 3 Walmart Exclusive DVD Gift Set today!
To complete the fun, we also grabbed some craft supplies so that we could make fun dragon book marks. Since we just signed up for our local summer reading program, this craft was perfect for us! It got the boys excited about using their book marks and collect some good reading time.
Light fury and Night fury book marks-
Some of the best crafts are those that are simple, quick and super cute! It also helps when they are useful or functional for the kids.
We got some origami paper, but you can also use construction paper for this, you just have to cut it to a square and start with that.
Once you have a square, follow the folding instructions below:
Once we had the main book mark folded, we went ahead to make them look like the dragons! We free cut a bunch of ears and frills, I chose to do it that way because I prefer to let them have creativity and chose the shape of ears they want. That way they can be more engaged in the project, instead of me doing it for them.
I gave them the option of using googly eyes, or drawing the eyes with coloring pencils, to keep the eyes’ color true to the movie. But they all chose to use the googly eyes because well they are fun!
We set the ears and frills around the head to chose sizes and then we just had to glue them, glue the eyes and draw the nostrils.
And that’s all! Following the same instructions we made the night fury as well, but we added extra frills because he has more.
It’s funny but the boys were immediately ready to start reading! Even though it was bed time.
So they had to accept to wait to read the next day. They love using their bookmarks and have declared the evening was a success. Just another best day ever!
