When friends come to visit during the holidays, we want them to feel like they are home. The boys and I thought of the idea of creating a special treat for the visiting kids their away from home stockings.
A fun shopping trip to Target, our stocking for friends, and a cute personalizable card to hang on it, so that it feels extra special to them. That is all that we needed to make the perfect stocking for our friends.
Away from home Stockings
Here is what we put in them:
Lip Balm- When the weather changes, kids tend to get very dry lips, especially if they are coming from a different environment so we grabbed some fun colored lip balms to put in the stocking.
Portable bandages- Nothing worse than to be in a new place and get hurt without being prepared. So we made sure to put our favorites in the stockings! BAND-AID® Brand Adhesive Bandages holiday collection which has about 20 different holiday-themed designs that will be ready and handy for our guests to use when they need them! BAND-AID® Brand Adhesive Bandages heals hurts faster so they are perfect for feeling better quickly and going back to enjoying the vacation! We are all about making memories. You can find these and other fun designs like Paw Patrol and even Star Wars BAND-AID® Brand Adhesive Bandages here.

Candy- I mean, do I need to elaborate here? kids = candy. We wanted to be sure to include some fun sweet treats also so we went with some festive chocolate and a fun peppermint lollipop.
Cookie cutter- Everyone knows that if they visit us during the holidays, we will be making some cookies. It’s a staple in our home and we love sharing the moments with others so the cookie cutter was a must.
Special ornament- As you already know, we are all about treasuring memories. Gifting a special ornament is a way to be present at our friends home each Christmas when they put it up on the tree and remember the fun vacation spent at our home.
Game- We love games and they help to keep the kids busy for an hour or so when all the parents just need a little time to sit and breathe to prepare for the next activity or shopping trip.
Coloring pencils- Another great way to let the kids have some quiet time! Especially if they don’t take naps anymore, is to have them spend some time coloring. They are always very excited to use brand new supplies so that is perfect to have.
That’s it! Once we have all supplies, the boys and I stuff them into the stocking and tie the card on the side of it so our friends know that we thought especially of them when putting it together. Then the stocking goes on the mantel to wait for our guest.
What traditions do you have to make your home more welcoming for friends and family? I would love to hear about them and maybe try some of them!
